Because the formation of martensite requires a lot of energy, it is difficult for crack propagation to occur, which will not only increase the strength of the steel (martensite strengthening) but also increase the fracture toughness KIC (consume the energy required for crack propagation). This steel is the ultra-high-strength tough steel with the best fracture toughness.
